Exotic Winter
by Nurit Koniak | 23.10.15The AW16 collection by renowned Israeli brand of accessories ‘Daniella Lehavi’, experiments with tactile surfaces and beautiful textures. ‘Koniak Design’ was pleased to art-direct the concept of this season’s campaign, echoing the collection’s unique theme.
The creative process began by looking for inspiring imagery that fuses contradicting elements together – soft vs. sharp, natural vs. industrial, feminine vs. masculine. The aim was to create a stage set that would awaken the senses by mixing these elements together and reflect a sensuous, vibrant winter.
We Searched for a color pallet that could create a lighter interpretation of winter, and could complement the dark leather featuring in the collection. This is why the pallet chosen was compiled of relaxed smoky pastels and nudes. The materiality included natural wood and rich colored marble to create the desired exotic mix.
We knew our story revolved around these exotic fusions, but we weren’t quite sure how to go about telling it visually. Natasha Boguslavsky from our studio created 3 unusual geometric shapes constructed of color and material swatches, and then together with Tal Brimer of “Paint your Wagon”, translated these objects into three dimensional objects, extruded from the wall. The result was truly surprising as these shapes became even more amorphic in the context of the photography, creating a sense of elegant drama.
